Thanks! Sounds like it does have a "quench tube" but it isn't
being used as a quench tube, at least not in a traditional
sense of the device. Rather than being used as a charge dump,
it's part of the circuitry that quenches the flash by turning
off the SCR and keeping the charge in the capacitor.
Sounds like an intersting "intermediate" step in getting rid
of it altogether (in terms of circuit evolution).
