Well it is 99% finished.
My Argus C-3 Stereo. Took a lot of time and effort.
Much thanks to Michael Watters for encouragement and
important information.
It is a hack of two (well actually four) Argus C-3
bricks. My version of the stereo hack is full frame
with a 68mm lens separation. One feature that I love
is that the viewfinders are almost exactly set at
my eye separation, so I can view through them both
for stereoscopic viewfinding.
For those of you who are not familiar with the
Argus C-3 it is a very simple but well made
35mm range finder camera with a fairly good
50mm lens. They were made from 1939
through the fifties and are the "Volkswagen"
of 35mm cameras.
My stereo Argus C-3 camera has linked shutters
and shutter speed, but everything else is independent.
The advance is "1-3-1" as in European format stereo
cameras, but this is accomplished by user memory
rather than internal mechanism-- I hope I don't
produce too many double exposures : ) .
I'm part way through the first roll of film. Could
be that it doesn't work well at all. I hope to get
the film processed quickly (its an E-6 roll) so I
can report and show to the Oakland Camera Club on
Tuesday.
Harolddd.
