I took my Kodak to Paris recently, too, and, in the few months that I've owned
it, it garnered more attention there than it has in the U.S.
One encounter was at a flea market. I came across a booth that had tons of
old camera equipment, much of it stereo. As I was looking around, a man came
up and tried to talk with me about my camera... but I don't speak French!
Talk about frustrating. Finally my host intervened to translate. The most I
got was that he has had (or does have) four stereo cameras, and that mine was
missing the flash-post cap. I wanted to know more, but my translator lost
interest in the conversation.
And, like Bill, I had an encounter in the Louvre. A gentleman came up to me
and pointed at my camera, smiling, and indicating his camera, which was an
older, non-stereo 35mm. We started a converstation, but, I not only didn't
speak his language, I'm not even sure what it was! I am certain that he liked
old cameras.
I plan to take the camera with me on trips in the U.S., but with my luck so
far, the only people to recognize it will probably be the foreign tourists!
