Basically, it would give me a reason to hang on to an otherwise run of the
mill 5-P camera. I wouldn't do this to my only camera, but this is the
extra one. (My entire collection of stereo cameras consists of two Kodaks
and a Wirgin, and the Wirgin sits on a shelf.)
I think all the Wirgin Stereos are 5-P. If it were already 7-P, or if I
already had a 7-P camera I agree that time and effort spent on a
modification to a less balanced proportion just for a bit more image width
would be a waste. Now though, instead of just another 5-P stereo Wirgin, I
have a "Potential 8-P Stereo Wirgin". The project would have sounded
interesting if it were a 7-P conversion, too.
Can't say what Alan Lewis' motivation might be, but it's his project. My
post was just inquiring as to its status.
