These days I find it difficult to use a stereo camera without one!
I have made 6 stereo cameras with stereo viewefinders, and it definately
helps with composition. I don't know why this wasn't done more in the 50's,
as it's a bit like taking a color photo through a viewfinder that sees only
black & white! It really is a big bonus in macro stereo, as you can not just
look at the subject directly an accurately percieve the 3d effect,
especially with a 5mm stereo base. The stereo viewfinder does, which will
certainly be a selling point to Jon's new RBT macro attachments.
Poor alignment, on the other hand, is definately a hinderance. I wouldn't
judge the issue on a poorly aligned stereo viewfinder.
