P3D KINDAR advice

Yeah, I know most of hate it, and it's flimsy etc. etc. ;-)
Still, I like to use it now and then and it has allways worked just fine.
Now, however, there's a problem selecting the shutterspeed. No matter what
speed I set the dial to, it fires at (my guess) 1/10 sec.
For as far is I can see by peeking inside there is movement when I turn the
dial.
Anyone any advice on what the problem is and how to solve it ?
After removing the top plate i see how two springs that keep the front
plate in place and allow it to move for focussing. Can I safely remove them
without causing problems ? Pehaps looking at the shutter mechanism I can
figure out what's wrong.

Thanks,
Patrick.
