RAVE RAVE RAVE CHIME CHIME CHIME....
Ditto for me. Mine came and I'll chime in with a rave review both for all
the work Dan did, as well as the work of all the contributors of the CD's
content. The price was nominal and the worth is priceless. Quite the
definition of a great deal.

I copied the 3D-CD to my hard disk where the access times can be even
faster than the CD-ROM. The improvement wasn't as dramatic as I might
have expected, but it did improve things. Netscape (4.0) isn't as fast
as one might expect even when running out of memory cache so that reduces
the effect of the source's faster speed. When trying this same trick
on my Sun Workstation (minus the Adult directory) the result was similar,
even with the blazing CPU and *FAST* memory system that it has. Interestingly,
I compared access speed between the hard-disk copy version and accessing
the 'real' copy on the web, and for Dan's own book site, the aparent speed
was identical ("real fast"). Of course, not all sites are that fast
and even fast ones aren't fast all the time, but I was caught by surprise
that there was even one instance that the local copy didn't beat the web
copy by a mile. The CD (or disk copy) should be a lot faster most of
the time. :-)
And of course, I've used the AltaVista program to re-index my hard disks,
which now includes the 3D-CD content, and I can keep the CD itself safely
tucked away in it's container.
