Claude-

Have you read the thread I started on the mounting gauges from Reel 3-D
in the last few issues? These are great tools for assisting in mounting
your own slides. They have lots of horizontal lines to keep objects in
both chips lined up, plus near and far marks to help place the window
and see if the distant objects are too far apart to be comfortably
viewed. They come with very good instructions.

I started using Albion aluminum mounts with cardboard foldover holders.
Now I use mostly RBT mounts. These wonderful plastic mounts are sturdy
and come with or without glass for most sizes (and there is a large
selection of openings to choose from). The vertical alignment can be
adjusted in small increments for slides that are slightly off. I'm sure
Jon Golden will eb happy to take it from here and post where you can get
more information on them.

I shoot mostly 2x2s and remount them in stereo mounts. The standard
image from a 35mm SLR can be mounted into any size stereo mount opening.
This is great for cropping! The RBTs come in all different sizes up to
full frame 35mm (which I believe is 8p?), but I don't know how easy it
is to project or hand-view these images to their fullest. Most people
(in competitions, at least) request up to 7p widths for projection, and
Dr. T modifies viewers for 7p.

Hope this helps.
