George A. Themelis wrote in response to messages regarding the adjustment of
the projector during slide competitions:

<<<There are very few slides that have such a mounting problem that will cause

severe eyestrain. The rest only need slight adjustments. Trying to correct

slight problems creates a greater problem: Makes everyone tired and with

a first class headache. Tony knows what he is doing when he states that

he does not bother to look until they are done with the adjustments. But

Tony is experienced... How about the "poor bystanders" who are going

through this torture of continuous adjustment without knowing how to

protect themselves?

There is only one way to do it: Don't touch these controls!

Sorry but I feel very strongly about this.>>>>

And so do I! Adjusting the projector for bad mounting is like taking aspirin
to cure an axe in the head!

If a slide is so badly mounted that it is unviewable unless the projector is
adjusted, then it should not be on the screen at all!

Whenever I have been judging stereo slide competitions, I have deducted many
marks for bad mounting. BUT it is important in such cases to provide feedback
to the entrant, so they know what went wrong, and can do something about it.

We had an entrant one year whose slide just scraped in, but could have been a
winner with better mounting. I gave him some help with this, and next year he
WAS a winner!

Projection without adjustment can be a very good way of improving the
mounting!

And, in any case, I don't know of a 2 x 50 x 50 system with adjustments in the
projection (other than auto-focus, which is wonderful!) so why should we
adjust the Realist format projector (because it's already "manual"?)
