- From: Bill Davis <bd3d@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Hi all.
If any of the talented membership of this list is planning to present a
workshop during this year's NSA convention, there's only a week or so left
before the June 30 proposal deadline. The workshops were a big hit at last
year's convention, and promise to be just as popular this year.
Here's the tentative workshop schedule, as outlined by Geoff Peters, NSA
Workshop Coordinator earlier this week:

There are still some openings here. Let Geoff know at petersgj@xxxxxxxxx
or gpeters@xxxxxxxxxxxx There are proposal forms available online at
the Convention site:

Some of these workshops have already been discussed on Photo-3D.
Here's the text from my proposal form:
Workshop 1:Stereo on a Shoestring
Bill "I'd Rather Not Spend Money" Davis will describe and demonstrate a
series of inexpensive make-at-home stereo projects.
Projects include a polarizing filter attachment for stereo cameras,
multi-viewer for Realist or 2x2 slides, motorized remote focus control for
TDC projectors, View-Master (tm) attachment for TDC projector, various
steal-the-light viewers and an 8x lens upgrade for View-Master (tm) viewers.
This is dependent on Bill being able to catch a ride and share a room for
NSA '98.
Workshop 2:
Restitching a camera case.
Many of the 50 year old camera cases we use have deteriorated over the
years, including split stitching, dry and cracked leather and other
assorted evils. This will be a demonstration of a simple re-stitching
technique which provides results superior to and indistinguishable from the
original. Specifically dealing with the Kodak Stereo Field Case, the
method should be applicable to most leather cases.
[Since I posted this to NSA '98 committee, I have examined a few other
cases, notably a Wirgin and several Realists (thanks to DrT for the
generous loan). The stitching is essentially identical in all. The
Realists don't seem to suffer the popped stitching that the others do.]
Best regards,
Bill Davis
