Paul-

This is an excellent idea! Unfortunately, there are only two
competitions a year that have "novice" and "master" classes. These are
not club competitions, but stereo competitions run by the club for the
local Council (where any club member from any member club of the Council
can compete). Our monthly club competitions are not divided. Maybe they
should be to separate the skill levels, but each competition has a large
trophy which is engraved with the winner's name and the year. Each
competition has a set subject matter and the trophies are named in honor
for different people who have contributed to the club. Perhaps the
novices could compete for medals only and if you want a chance at the
trophy, you have to compete in advanced (or master - whatever term is
used). I often wonder if we would get more participation if we had a
novice class where they may not feel as intimidated to enter. This is in
place with most of the other area clubs (not stereo) and works very
well. There is a lot of member participation. Since one of our goals is
to promote stereo photography and participation, perhaps this could
work. I would be interested in hearing from club members (both PSSP and
other clubs) OFF the list. Any suggestions and/or comments are much
appreciated.
