P3D Far out slide scanning idea ??

I haven't tryed this yet...so can anyone tell me whats wrong with this idea ?

I quite fancy scanning some of my (RBT) mounted slides.
I've used a light box ontop of a slide ontop of a flatbed scanner - it works
but the quality is not good.

So heres the idea - 

Put the slide into the neg carrier of a 35mm photographic enlarger and 
illuminate the slide onto the bed of the scanner - switch the room lights
off and fire up the scanner.

It seems to me that if the image is bright enough then it is a similar
set-up to the lightbox 'trick'.

Anyone tried this already ?
