You lost me here somewhere Marv. Does your reference to "control freak"
mean that you want to control whether I use a filter in the privacy of my
own
reader? Seems a bit over the top to me.<

You can do anything you want in the privacy of your reader. It just
occurred to me that most people use filters to block out all messages from
a certain writer, or on a certain general subject; but scrambling around
trying to develop an effective filter to blockade an ephemeral little
thread of a dozen or so messages that will vanish completely in two or
three days is rather like arming yourself with a bazooka to get rid of that
gnat that's annoying you. How many hundreds of filters does it take to
shape the information on the Internet to precise perfection? And how much
important information do you miss while ensuring that you never have see a
single word you haven't pre-determined you want to see? When you go to the
library, do you rip every page out of the encyclopedia that doesn't
interest you at a given moment? Sorry if I offended, but when I'm in a
grumpy mood, I tend to bark at people who are doing things I consider
irrational. Nothing personal.
