Sounds like a good idea. However, where does one find a projector
that really is bright enough for even a "properly" exposed slide
(rather than the "projector exposure" that's normally needed)?
Turning down the already dim may not work (note my resistance to
refer to other things that could be called "dim" :-).
Actually, it'd be straightforward enough for "auto-exposure" with
a simple feedback loop. Lot simpler than autofocus (which projectors
already have).

P.S. - Some of the ideas are more applicable to the auto-everything digital
stereo camera that I've projected for the future -- where the real-time
compute power in the camera would put current super-computers to shame.
