P3D 3D in the Southeastern USA

Dear 3D-friends,

before attending the NSA convention, I'll be touring the southeastern part 
of the USA. I'll be starting on July 15th in Richmond, and returning to 
Richmond on August 5th.

I haven't fixed my travel route for the three week trip "on the road", but 
I certainly want to see Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, 
Tennessee and maybe the eastern part of Kentucky.

Any recommendations, both for 3D (clubs, exhibitions, meetings, companies 
... etc.) and non-3D stuff that's not listed in every tourist guide? Your 
comments are appreciated - but unless it's 3D-related, please send
