P3D Help! Autofocus Twin Camera Issues

I'd would like to get everyone's feedback on shooting with two twin bar
autofocus cameras. One of the issues, of course, is shutter synch. Here is
what I have tested so far, in terms of modern SLRs:

Pentax - Autofocus SLRs use a three pin electromagnetic cable release. Looked
promising to fire both at once....but doesn't work well. Wiring the cable
releases together, either camera-to-camera or cameras to remote release, is
not working. The circuits are active and I get many accidental firings. Ugh.
I even tried putting in diodes and this didn't work either! Yes, the cameras
do fire together....only in autofocus mode (not manual), but the connection is
unreliable.
Anyone fired these cameras sucessfully with the Cable Release Fs???

Nikon - The N90s seems to be a stereo photographers dream. There is a special
cord for one camera firing the other. Seems to work in both AF and MF.
Setting the right exposure in Manual must be done thru the viewfinder,
however...not ideal. Anyone shot with twin N70s???

Canon - The Canon tech reps think that there simple electromagnetic release
will work with two cameras (Elan). They are unsure is one camera will fire
the other. Any experience on the 3-D list?

Minolta - Most have three pin remotes, I believe, and I have not tried these
yet. Let me know....I'll post everyone's thinking. Thanks. Robert
