P3D Shooting lots of film...

>This topic comes up occassionally on this list, where someone says "I shot
>xx rolls of film last year and will shoot even more this year" From my
>(admittedly limited) point of view, unless it's a business and business is
>improving, one should be learning as they go and *reducing* the amount of
>film needed to get one's shots.

Oh, no, my good friend :-) What does "get one's shots" mean? Sounds like
there is certain fixed number of shots that can be taken and as we are
getting better we need less and less film to get these shots...

That's not how I see things. My film output has increased simply because
I have tackled many more subjects with time. I am having lots of fun
and trying many different things. At first it was just family and vacation,
then it became Detroit assignments, experiments, film duplication, special
effects, SLR macro shots, handheld SLR stereos, tabletops, special projects,
...and the list goes on...

I should plenty of film and I am having a blast. Should I feel guilty?

PS. While in Chicago I discovered another vast area of experimentation:
Shooting window store displays by handholding an SLR and wide lens
(24 mm). Shoot and shift w/slow speeds and available light.

PPS. Now I am experimenting shooting with the Realist straight front
while I am driving!!! I am ready to attach an SLR to the side
(by the window) and motor drive to take hyperstereos while I drive.
And you people thought that driving was a wasted time!!!!
