odd hotshoe on his/her Revere with an extra flash contact ?
Mine has the serialnumber V-30925 and it has a couple of other (some
more or less weird) differences from a 'standard' Revere.<<<
>>>Bob Aldridge wrote: Well, my Revere, serial number V-28624 - has a
shoe with one of those silly hemispherical contacts only. There are 4
plain screw heads (no slots) around the contact, and the contact itself
is getting on for a quarter of an inch in diameter (i.e. a little larger
than the one on my Custom Realist).<<<
My Revere Stereo 33 (serial number V-23597) and is just like Bob's; one
big bump only. Which, by the way, I am in need of a modified hotshoe
adaptor to fit over so I can use a standard flash. Anyone got one?
>>>Peter wrote: Anybody over there (USA) aware of the fact that there
was some kind of dedicated flash made for this model ? After all it was,
and still is, an 'American' camera, bought in 1961 in New York. The
flash that came with my camera (a pretty standard model 24) has a
'normal' flash shoe with only 'one, standard, bump' and no extra contact
whatsoever.<<<
According to the original Revere instruction manual (which came with my
camera), The Revere flash is the B*C Flash Model 24. Haven't seen or
heard of one around yet, but I keep looking.
On another note (B flat, I think), I always keep the case on my Revere.
The case poses no inconvenience whatsoever when shooting. It also holds
the stupid rubber lens cap on that has a tendancy to fall off all the
time - I have a sting attached to it so I don't loose it). The camera is
either around my neck (via the strap) or in my fanny pack camera bag.
When I am using it a lot in low level light conditions, I will remove
the case and attach a quick release plate to the bottom so I can mount
it to my tripod (everything I have is on quick release brackets). The
camera stays in the fanny pack until I actually use it, since it is
unprotected.
