P3D Re: KUK
Please excuse a delayed answer to Jim Crowell, who wanted an explanation of
the expression
KUK, printed on his folding stereocard from Prague.
In my opinion these letter represent the German words "Kaiserlich Und
Koeniglich" that is the adjective form of "Emperor and King". Of course the
person intended is the Austrian Emperor, who also was King of Hungary and
the Czekh countries until WW I or 1918. That year the Czechs and Slovaks
(with American assistance) united in their own country, Czechoslovakia.
That is where the beige plastic Meopta camera (for VM pictures on 35 mm
film) were produced as well as the Stereo-Mikroma (VM chips from 16 mm
film; is there anyone out there who needs the according film cutter?)
Mikael Anjou,
Sweden
