I've just received some bad news for myself and the 3d world, Noel
Archembault has been killed in a plane crash while working on a new Imax 3d
film.

  >>Dear Gary,

We had heard this verbally from a friend and just didn't want to believe it.
This is truly a sad tragedy. We had enjoyed seeing Noel and talking with him
at conventions, and really enjoyed all of his Imax 3-D work.

We recall fondly when we were in Paris at the ISU Congress sitting in the
hallways between programs sharing all of the wonderful pictures that Noel had
brough of his experiences at Imax. Later we ended up sitting together on the
Seine night cruise, and David and Noel had their first discussion about Imax
use of the stereo window, on which they never fully agreed.

It is such a great loss!. Last year he sent Susan a Happy Birthday greeting
written on a strip of unexposed Imax film, and it has been on our wall ever
since. He will be long remembered by all of those who knew him, or of the work
that he did.

Thanks for sending us this information. We will look at the web site.

Yours with deep sadness,

David & Susan

P.S. We have taken the liberty of emailing a copy of this letter to all of the
3-D friends on our list who may have known Noel. It is a sad message to have
to copy.
