The key phrase here is "cut down" which to me implies use of scissors which,
of course, is out of the question.
There *is* a procedure for running any unmounted slide through a V-M film
cutter, and it *does* produce good results (proper fit) but it requires
punching each chip separately -- and only after first positioning the
film so that the chip will have no vertical allignment errors and will
have a correct stereo window when mounted. I have used this procedure
successfully to mount hyper shots taken from an airplane with an SLR. It
took me a good half hour the first time I tried it, but the result was
right on the money. What remains on my to-do list is to use the same
procedure to obtain some super-macro shots taken with an SLR/macro lens
and a slide bar...cropping down to the tiny V-M chip's dimensions should
boost the perceived magnification, right?
