P3D Kodachrome

I've been using Kodachrome in one form or another since I was a kid, but
there is something odd about the rolls I recently shot at Las Vegas and
our local mayoral election.
They are very nice, typical Kodachrome color rendition and all, but there
is too much latitude. Photos taken indoors when the flash failed are
fine (except for the color shift). Outdoor nighttime shots also show
remarkable latitude, those taken with insufficient light show an increase
in grain, similar to the way that Max film works, but a decent image. It
just seems odd to me to get a good kodachrome slide when the exposure was
a good three stops under.
Puzzled,
Charlie
