Joseph,

It sound like you live in a different part of the US, then I do.
It seems that everyone, I show my 3D stuff to, either in anaglyph or
stereo pairs, they really are surprise of the effects. These are, sells
people, portrait photographer, commercial photographer. One retire
commercial photographer was soo amaze of a anaglyph pictures, that he
spend at least 15 minutes looking at it.
Anyway, I have a Pentax beam splitter and I used it once and really did
not like it,  the two pictures did not look clean.
If you like more information on 3D, just go to Yahoo.com and do a 3d
photo search. That how I learn about 3d photography.
