Thanks for the speedy reply.  This sounds like exactly what is happening.

Is this the screw that is on the knob or is their another screw attached to the
plastic spool?  The only screw I could find is the one on the knob which says
"wind".  I turned it a quarter turn but the reel still slipped.  I looked for
another screw on the plastic spool but could not find one.  Is it on the top or
bottom?
