Occupational stereotypes aside, I think it's fair to say, and
well-established, that people show varying degrees of sensitivity to
the stereo effect - like some are more sensitive to spicy food - and
that this sensitivity is subject to change. Anecdotally, I have
noticed changes from day to day and even hour to hour in my brain's
alertness to stereo cues. And over the four years I have been looking
at stereo a lot, I definitely see an overall enhancement my ability to
notice small differences in parallax. Views that looked "flat" to me
or "cardboardy" four years ago seem much more nuanced and enjoyable
now. Conversely, the "comin' at you" stuff often seems aggressive and
un-artistic. Perception and taste are pretty malleable, eh?
Bruce.
