This sounds like a problem I have had with at least two of my Nimslos both
a UK and Japanese and with Ektachrome film.

I suppose a longer pressure plate would have more area and therefore more
friction but the problem I found with the Nimslo pressure plate in this
case was that it seems to move with the film movement a little as it is
attached to the camera back with a slotted plate and is removeable. The
sprocket wheel fits through a small slot in the pressure plate and if the
plate moves just a little the sprocket wheel catches on the edge of the
slot. The sound is very like that of sprockets tearing ,did you notice if
the sprockets had actualy torn when you removed the film. This became so
frequent with mine that I took a changing bag with me in my camera bag so I
could reposition the pressure plate mid roll of film if neccessary. I read
in your last post that the problem seems to have gone now but the pressure
plate may have returned to its correct position (rewinding could perhaps do
that) . P.J.Homer
