I used a larger piece than the write protect tab!  :-)
I guess you could call it the "hinge." It is part of the "outer"
part of the audio cassette box (if one can be called "outer").
It has a pin near the center (which I had to file flat)
that fits into a corresponding hole in the other half of the box. I do 
think even a videocassette write protect tab would be too small!
