|A correction too on the Goosenecks of the San Juan. They are "entrenched
|meanders" not "meaners" as posted!
|
|Again, great country to see on the north side of Monument Valley. I'm
|already planning a trip back this winter when the sun will be nicer!

There is an overlook on the highway as you head north towards Mexican Hat
which features the Goosenecks plus the <???name> anticline (geological term for an
upside down U rock formation). I was VERY impressed with it a number of
years ago. It's one of the largest geological formations (and most clearly articulated)
I've ever seen from one place on the surface of the earth. I regret I wasn't able
to do a hyper stereo at the time.
Incidentally, considering that the last I heard, the two fugitives which the 4 corners
police have been looking for 6 weeks are still at large somewhere in the area, maybe
"meaners" is the correct term!
THANKS
