P3D Re: Positive for 5P
One thing I find attractive about the FED is that the large format is
perfect for cropping if needed.
One of my favorite cameras was the Kodak Instamatic Reflex--square format--
about 28mmx28mm. I cropped these into Robot (24x24), half frame, 110,
and Minolta (10x14) mounts. I gave the camera up mostly because of the
lack of film plane accuracy, but also because the complicated mechanical
sequence of the behind-lens leaf shutter/rapid return mirror made for
a lot of camera shake and noise (close shutter, flip up mirror, open
shutter for required exposure, close shutter, flip down mirror, open
shutter--the shutter had to be open for viewing at all times except
when actually taking a picture because it was in front of the mirror).
But I got a lot of good pictures with it and its 1/500 to 20 seconds auto
(aperture preferred) shutter was great--similar to the shutter timings I get
with my Olympus OM-10 (the OM-10 cuts off around 5 or 10 seconds at the
bottom, while the OM-2 can go to more than 20 seconds, IIRC--around 2
minutes?).
