P3D beamsplitters
Mike,
Thank you for the comments in the 3-D discussion group about my beam
splitter images on my web site. I've worked with all
types of methods to produce 3-D including 16mm motion picutres
(polarized) I did aerial stereo in the Navy in 1964 over Viet
Nam. My uncle designed the stereo camera that was used over Cuba during
the Cuban Crisis and worked closley with JFK
examining the images. My uncle was in the CIA. Some of his camera
designs are in the Smithsonian. I've been interested in 3-D
since I was a kid, I'm 54 now.
In order to produce color stereograph sets that were cost effective for
the public, I decided to go with the Pentax beamsplitter,
4X6 prints, and a folding stereo viewer that I designed to make it
easier for people to align the image. Many people have
trouble grasping the concept of using a lorgnette viewer, so I encased
one in cardboard. To my knowledge, I am the only
business in the world producing color stereograph sets of famous places.
If anyone knows of another I would appreciate you
letting me know.
Shooting with a beamsplitter has its problems, but I've learned to deal
with the technical difficulties by knowing what they are,
which I'd like to get into at a later time.
