En response to Joseph Covington:

>From the beginners point of view (shot and mounted 3 roles to date), I can
tell you my experience with the Realist 3.5 so far. I have been shooting 2D
with an automatic camera for a while and am quite embarrassed to admit that
I never paid much attention to the exposures that the camera picked. My
first attempt with the Realist was the first time I ever had to choose both
the aperture and the shutter speed. Much to my surprise, the results were
beyond what I expected. The exposures were good, the pictures were in focus
and most important...THEY WERE 3D! George T. stated that this is also a
good way to learn more about photography. All of my previous good
intentions of setting my SLR on manual and learning exposures have finally
been enforced on me.

roundabout way to go to get 3-D photos.
My introduction to the 3D world was by way of antique collecting. I
personally would rather own a working piece of history than something brand
new (I hate plastic...except Bakelite).
By the way, I took my first pictures at an Astronomy (another hobby) star
party during the day and discovered that telescopes make excellent 3D
subjects. Now if only I could figure out how to get enough perspective
between the lenses to take stereo astrophotos, I'd have it made!
