This is a fascinating area which as Sam points out has made for some
good insights in discussions past...

For myself, trying to shoot stereo and plano in parallel is a bit like
trying to master tennis and squash at the same time... while they would
appear to have essential similarities (both racquet+ball confined court
sports, both involve forehands, backhands, overheads, etc) playing the
one makes you loose your chops in the other... stereo and plano have
some really essential compositional disparities and my marginal skills
don't hold up well while practicing both simultaneously...
