Now, that's an interesting test - although kids may not be able to
actually comprehend "depth" too well at an early age on the basis of
stereopsis (recall the discussion of the experiments done 20-30
years ago placing babies on a glass panel over a "cliff" in the floor), 
being able to describe the scene would seem to indicate that the stereopsis
circuitry is functioning in the brain. I'd think it might be easier
to test for "horsey!" rather than "there seems to be an acute parallex
problem leading to the violation of the stereo window" :-)

Sound's like a good project for somebody's Ph.D. dissertation!
