P3D Review 2

I reviewed my mounting Jig and Spicer mounts from Joel Alpers, aswell
as my silver mylar tape from Reel 3-D.

The jig works really well!! It took a few minutes to get it adjusted
for the way my camera syncs up with the slides, but after that it was
really smooth sailing.

Don't get me wrong, I still love my RBT mounts, and I will use them
for my favorite slides, but there is no way I am going to give them
away to other people.

The Spicer mounts cost about 10 cents a piece and the RBTs work out to
about 60 cents a piece. If the RBTs were only twice as much, I would
use them for every thing, but they are 6 times as much.

I am in the process of shooting a lot of pictures of other people and
their stuff, and I will use the Spicer mounts and Jig for all of the
slides I give to them.

The mounts are under $10 for 100 of them, and come in just about any
size you can think of including medium format.
The jig is $70, which scared me at first, but that is about the cost
of 100 rbts (which is what I was using for everything), so after your
first 100 mounts it has paid for itself!

I know this sounds like and infomercial, but I am so happy to have
found this set up:

1) Cut the slide chips

2) Put them on top of the mount (which has been slipped into the jig)

3) Close the flap on the jig and push the chips up against the
plastic edge.

4) slide the chips left or right to set the stereo window using
freeviewing or a Folding Plastic Stereoscope

5) Tape the chips down, fold over the mount, tape it shut

6) Pop in the viewer, and you've got 3-D.

You can get the mounts and jig at:

And the tape as well as the Folding Plastic Stereoscope can be found at:
