"advertise" to a pre-screened group? I think the most obvious is to
"attack" existing camera clubs. Yes, one won't get mass conversions,
but the percentage hit rate probably will be tremendously higher than
the public in general because there's already a prescreening for
photographic interest. The *making* of photographs.<<<
I have done this, as well. When I am asked to give a program at a camera
club, I try to get a hold of our stereo club's projector and show a 5
minute stereo show at the end of my talk. This leaves an impression with
the audience and I am available immediately for any questions. This is
quite effective when I have shown some of the same slides in my 2-D
presentation only a short time before. The point I try to emphasise the
most is how EASY it is to get started in stereo. When I project a 3-D
show that is entirely of images from a single SLR, that is, equipment
most photographers already have, there is more interest. When you also
tell them that a stereo camera (such as one from Dr. T) is relatively
inexpensive, there is also some interest. I think some people get put
off of stereo because they see the prices antique dealers and flea
markets charge for "extremely rare" cameras. Education and information
is the best way to spread the word. But if they're not interested in the
first place...
