P3D Abram Klooswyk, stereoscopes, VM and Kids, etc.

I echo George's thanks to Abram Klooswyk for his posting re the
relation of steroscope interocular, lens diameter, and varied
interpupillary distances. I also encourage Tony Alderson to stick to
his principles on correct usage. These discussions get tricky enough
without us using words to mean what we want them to (rather like
adjusting projectors at the drop of a hat. ;-) ). I for one welcome
any accurate correction I might receive, and I receive plenty.
In that spirit of accuracy, I should note that Mr. Klooswyk found the
average interpupillary to be "65 to 66 mm", not 65 mm as I stated in
my posting. There, I feel better. :-)
I was surprised to hear the usable part of typical VM lenses might
allow eye separation as low as 53 mm. That is far better than I was
guessing. What might that allow at the high end? Does anyone have a
guess as to the usable diameter of lenses in the custom VM viewers
currently offered, such as the one from Hugo de Wijs? Or, to the
point of this discussion, the range of interpupillaries those viewers
allow?
I will continue to indulge my private vice of fiddling with the
interocular on my Red Button, especially when my mounting is not as
accurate as I like to believe. But publicly, I'm sold on the theory!
