That's my view as well.  Very few stereo photographers are shooting
magazine covers with their Realist.  A comparison with an SLR 35mm seems
more apt.

For that kind of shooting, most pros take advantage of the technical
improvements that have been made since 1953, whether it's auto-focus or
focal plane shutter.  My original comment, that most non-stereo
photographers would be reluctant to give up these technical advances just
to shoot affordable stereo, seems undeniable.
