Sorry George but believe it or not its actualy been done !. Some time ago
I bought a fairly cheap (In Both senses of the word) viewer for 2x2 pairs
as well as being able to adjust the interocular there is a little screw
that allows one of the slides to be slid up and down. Futhermore I have a
catalogue from Agar Aids from 1988 which features an adjustable stereo
mount for pairs of 35mm film slides. One could be moved lateraly and
verticaly with respect to the other and even rotated !. "So that perfect
alignment can be obtained " they went on to say "This is the proffesional
solution to the problem of giving optimum viewing of stereo pairs which
have not had time consuming adjustments made to them during mounting". By
that time they were no longer selling the mount alone only in the version
with two x5 viewers atatched which were most probably focusable and if so
it would have to be individualy. It looked very high quality and the price
at least implied that 340 UK pounds!. At about the same time 3D Foto World
had it in their catalogue for 536 Swiss Francs or 590 Deutchmarks.
