Oddly enough, this is pretty much what I did when I had my "loaner"
(Thanks Jim!) Realist.  Left hand pressed wind release button as right
hand wound film.  My difference was, as right hand was rewinding, left
hand was cocking shutter for the next shot.  

And, due to recommendations by Realist users on this list, holding the
camera with thumbs on the bottom made it quite easy to press the shutter
release with the left hand.  Not awkward at all, even after being used
to the "photographer's grip" with my  SLR.  Left hand under lens to
focus and steady, right hand on camera grip to press release & set
shutter speed (auto fstop).  And I even find myself holding my Kodak
Stereo this way.
