Space and Distance are Wealthy words because Humpty Dumpty pays them
so much extra. With stereocamera's, is lens distance the distance to
the subject, the distance to the film, the distance between the centers
of the lenses or the empty space between lenses ?
Lens spacing is the space between lenses ? So with two lenses of 60
mm diameter set at 60 mm between their centers the lens spacing is
zero ? Eye spacing is the place where the nose is ?
These questions probably are the reason why pseudoscientists prefer
Poor words like lens separation, far point separation, interpupillary
and interocular.

But indeed, drop the pretence, why "interest" and not "the distance
between Estonians", why "internee" and not "the space between your
knees" or whatever else seems clear.
