Hmmm...I guess I learn something new from this list every day.  While I
knew about #3 (heck, all my cameras are that way), I didn't know about
#1 and #2.  Well, I guess I kinda heard that you shouldn't change the
shutter speed when cocked.  But keeping the shutter spring under tension
is a new one for me and definitely a reason to "cock before shooting"
rather than "cock when rewinding".

P.S. "Chicken dance" in the subject line refers back to one of my
underwater photo instructors who instructed us to get into a routine of
checking your camera prior to hitting the water.  "Make sure you do your
chicken dance" was his standard reminder about 15 minutes before we
arrived at the dive site.
