I don't want to turn this into something personal. Let me just
say I e-mailed someone who sent a brief reply and also forwarded
my message to the proper person.

My complaint is that scoldings for failing to contribute should
not be posted to P3D if requests for contributions were not posted
during the appropriate time frame.

I also reviewed the auction information that came with SW, and
noticed that there is no mention at all of donations. Maybe
this is not something NSA officially sanctions?

OK, I'll come out of the closet: In the year or so I've been
receiving SW, I doubt I've read more than 10% of the content.
I don't anxiously await its arrival and wouldn't miss it if it
never came. (Hold the too-easy jokes about how far behind they
are, please.) Heck, I might have another older copy around some-
where not yet opened. I wouldn't subscribe if it were optional,
instead of included in the membership.

I'm growing more confused about how NSA, the auction, and the idea
of donating items to NSA by way of the auction really fit together.
Is anyone beside "Bill who" donating this way? Does NSA want to
receive donations this way? Maybe I should never have assumed
that the scolding messages that have appeared here were anything
more than a "lone gunman." If NSA does not support or encourage
this procedure, than I apologize for the portions of my comments
that may have seemed to indict the organization as a co-conspirator.

And now some good points have been made as to why this practice
should not be widely encouraged, so I don't know what I will do.
