P3D Shameless Endorsement

(The following load of praise is hardly necessary, there having been
much of the same in the past, but I can't help it!)
I just received in the mail the much-anticipated second edition of
George Themelis' "How to Maintain, Repair and Improve Your Realist
Red-Button, Realist ST-61 (2061) Stereo Slide Viewer", autographed by
the author at my request.
I never saw the first edition, but am the owner of his books on the
View Master Model D and the Realist Green Button, both treasured in my
growing stereo library. This new book exceeds even my highly inflated
expectations. If George were suddenly called back to The Planet of
Highly Gifted People, or wherever he comes from, I think his greatest
legacy to we stereo-mortals would be not his postings on P3D, or his
stewardship of the Gamma SSA slide circuit, or his meticulous custom
services and highly affordable merchandise offered through his
catalog. (Not to mention his eventual contributions to "shooter news"
in Stereo World and donation of classic slides to NSA auctions. :-) )
No, these manuals are, in my eyes, the enduring fruit of the Doctor's
practice. Not just how-to guides, they amount to a master's tutorial
in the history, technology, adaptability, science, literature and
enjoyment of modern stereo-slide viewers. If you never lift a
screwdriver, file, or polishing rag - buy these books anyway. They
are worthy of your time and interest, if for nothing more than to
witness their clarity and creativity, and well worth the small price
asked, even for the impecunious among us. Thank you George!
End of Hyperbole. I have no ulterior motives, financial interest, or
expectation of other compensation from the enterprises of Dr T. Well,
maybe the occasional "lagniappe" with an order, but he'd do that
anyway. ;-)
