I hope we can figure out how to make 3-D QuickTime VR. I have seen a
couple of sites with 3D QT-VR including
http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/vrml/qtvr_stereo.html which has a great Mars
Pathfinder panorama. I think this is also on the 3D-CD.
For QT-VR you take a 360 degree series of 2D shots
and then stitch them together using Apple's QT-VR Authoring Studio
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtvr/authoringstudio/index.html . This is
a fairly expensive program IMO at $395, but I am thinking seriously
about purchasing.
It looks like you could take 2 copies of the stitched series into
PhotoShop and set one up for the left eye (red) and the other for the
right eye (cyan). Then superimpose the two series so the left strip
lagged the right by 2 frames (assuming you shot the series
counterclockwise?) Now bring it back into QT-VR Authoring Studio to
finish the job.
I spoke to the fellow at Jasper Engineering at NSA about modifying his
panoramic adapter to make it more suitable for QT-VR. Hopefully I'll
hear from him soon.
Anyone have any experience or ideas?
