P3D Auctions

IMHO, an auction, any auction, is a place where goods are sold to the
highest bidder. Most auctions are selling the goods for an individual
or an estate and the auctioneer takes a "cut" of the money brought in.
Now, again IMHO, the auction for NSA makes a profit for NSA (the
auctioneer's cut?) whether the items are donated to NSA or whether NSA
is just the auctioneer for individuals.
Should individuals expect their items to bring more at auction than they
would at the sales table? Probably not. I frequent auctions to get a
bargin, not pay more than the retail price. So, if Boris is auctioning
off a set of last year's slides and I get them for $10.00 instead of
$50.00 at his table, I feel I got a bargin(*) and NSA gets a
"donation". On the other hand, if the item auctioned was a
one-of-a-kind Realist originally purchased at a garage sale for $20.00
and only available via auction, I might pay more than the original
price.
Regardless of how the auction is run, whether items are donated or
simply sold on commission, the big winner is always NSA and, by the
majority of comments made, that's who the big winner should be anyway.
Just my humble opinion,
Ron
(*) This is just an example scenario.
