Oh yes, I forgot to ask.
Did we achieve a consensus of any kind on where to measure subject
distance from:  front lens, film plane, nodal point wherever it may
occur?  Credible sources named all three (giving Andrea a headache). 
Nodal point sounded good to me, but how do I find that in my 35-70
zoom lens?  A tiny dowsing rod maybe? ;-)  In big shots, I suppose the
differences are too small to matter, but in tabletop it would seem to
have significance.
