P3D STEREOSCOPIC SOCIETY OF AMERICA (SSA)

On behalf of SSA, I would like to extend a warm welcome to the 9 new
members who joined the Society during the latest NSA convention in
Richmond. These new members are:

Nancy Castro, Richard Dubnow, Jon Golden, Dwight Harvey, David Kesner,
David Klutho, Robert Leonard, Brenda Nowlan, and Dan Shelley.

I also would like to thank all SSA members who volunteered to staff the SSA
table during the convention.

Each new member can probably tell you her or his specific reason for
joining the Society, which is likely to include sharing the fun of
stereoscopic photography with fans from many parts of the world and having
a wonderful opportunity to get feedback on stereo images from other members
as well as seeing some of the best images that are being done today.

How does the Society work?

The Stereoscopic Society of America (SSA) is a group of currently active
stereo photographers who circulate their work by means of postal folios.
Print, transparency and electronic formats are used, and several groups are
operating folio circuits to meet the needs of each format.

When a folio arrives, a member views and makes comments on each of the
entries of the other participants. This view, which has traveled the
circuit and has been examined and commented upon by the other members, is
removed and replaced with a new entry. The folio then continues its endless
travels around the circuit. Many long distance friendships have formed
among the participants in this manner over the years.

Due to the transit time restraints in mailing the folio to members,
membership in SSA has been restricted to USA and Canada, but there are some
special folios that travel to other countries including England, Australia,
New Zealand and Germany.

The Stereoscopic Society is affiliated with the National Stereoscopic
Association (NSA) therefore a membership in NSA is required in order to
join SSA and its folios.

How much does it cost?

Annual membership in SSA has been reduced since the latest NSA convention
in Richmond to only $10.

Stereo photographers, who may wish to join the Stereoscopic Society of
America should contact the SSA Membership Secretary at one of the addresses
below. To receive an information package, please include your postal
address when responding.
