P3D Mathed To Death (Once Again)
>>You can then forget all about math and concentrate on photography.
That's what I've done! I don't think I have ever used a ruler for
my macro stereos! No 1/30 rules, nothing! Just a blend of intuition,
experience and common sense. Maybe a bit of trial and error too.
I had enough science in school and real life. This is a hobby, not
a job! It is fun!!!
This is excellent advice. All this talk about math tends to infer that good
macro stereo is not possible without it. BALDERDASH! Great Stereo is
possible without math, and George said it well: Intuition, experience and
common sense.
So through out all the math and take a photograph. Use the SWAG Method of
Computational Stereo Photogrsaphy. SWAG is Scientific Wild A** Guess.
Say, here is a question for the group: If we were to interview all of the
old timers that now take or have taken truly great stereo images, what
percentage of them get out the slide rule and Math everything to death?
And, how does the combination of the Macro Realist and the special masks
they once offered (ST something or other) for close-up stereo play against
the rules and formulas being bandied about the list?
