They have

Stereo has been used in the past to detect forged stamps by looking at

So, leave stamps out of it, it ain't so.<<<<

Now, now, now Andrea.... do not misunderstand what I posted, I simply
wanted to point out that Philatelists have used this technique on purpose,
using recognized stereo techniques to produce specific stereo images. It is
a purposeful process where stereo is the desired outcome. It is not a
matter of considering everything on the atomic level to be in stereo, I
simply wanted to point out that using stereo photography to photograph
items that are essentially flat is a legitimate use for stereo; at least in
this situation. I also understands that the FBI Labs use stereo techniques
to do similar types of projects and investigations.

I wanted the mention of stamps excluded because it is a useful technique in
which Stereo is the preferred method.

As an aside, I also have some stamps from Bhutan that are Lenticular, and
some record stamps from there designed to be played on a phonograph.
