Well, I've never tried a Tesla coil, but I've tried lightning, fireworks,
and waterfalls. I think you should vary the shutter speed as well as the
aperture. Remember how an overly short exposure of a near-by waterfall
makes it look like ice, while an overly long exposure is considered
arty by some, but looks strange to me.
I would love to hear how it turns out.
